YOGA

Structure · Alignment · Centre · Grounding

Yoga is an ancient practice, developed over thousands of years as a pathway to awareness and meditation. While modern interpretations often focus on physical fitness and appearance, the true intention of yoga is not goal-oriented.

'Yoga is the calming of the fluctuations of the mind'

(Yogas chitta vritti nirodhah)

- definition from the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali

Yoga is a practice of presence, connection, and returning to the self.

In our work, Yoga Asanas are the beginning process - providing a foundation of structure, alignment, and stability within the body, creating the conditions for deeper internal work.

You can’t always trust your thoughts - they are always changing.
You can’t always trust your feelings - they are always moving.
But you can trust your centre. It is always there.

Through this centre, we create structure and grounding - a stable internal container that supports everything that follows. A place to return to. A sense of self that can hold experience.

We are drawing energy back into the body’s structure - through breath, through posture, through focus - so that the system becomes more centred, stable, and available for awareness. In this way, yoga becomes both preparation and anchor: a foundation to hold the deeper processes of breath, sound, and movement.

Yoga, is the practice “to know oneself”, creating a solid base that allows us to later “lose oneself” and regroup in a place within ourselves that is more integrated, clear, and embodied.

The physical yoga postures (asanas) are not used as an end in themselves, but as a way to open the body and create space. As we stretch, strengthen, and align, areas of holding begin to reveal themselves - places where tension, emotion, and energy may be stored.

Through simple, intentional breathing techniques, we begin to activate the parasympathetic nervous system -supporting the body to slow down, settle, and arrive.

Abi has been a certified Level 2 Yoga teacher in Hatha and Vinyasa yoga for over 10 years, with a 25-year personal practice and extensive training and teaching in Iyengar yoga and AcroYoga. Her teaching style combines the simplicity of Hatha, the flow of Vinyasa, and the precision and alignment focus of Iyengar. She guides a grounding practice that works through the breath and fundamental postures to centre and align the body - bringing awareness into the muscles, bones, and breath so the practice becomes a moving meditation.

This process is a journey from structure to softness -from grounding in the physical body to creating space for awareness to arise.

We work with asanas to bring awareness into the body, stretch and strengthen where needed, and allow space for release. Through this, the mind is gently invited to soften, and the focus shifts inward.

We invite you to stay present with the breath and sequence, like a moving meditation.  You are encouraged to find your own rhythm within the postures, allowing the practice to become internal rather than external.

Options are offered so you can meet your body where it is.  Often it is the smallest, most subtle adjustments where the deepest presence - and release - can be found.

The external is only distraction.
This is a return inward.

An invitation to make peace with yourself through presence, breath, and awareness.

Through this grounding, we build a stable base in the body, mind, and nervous system - creating a safe internal structure that can hold everything that follows in the Sound Body journey.

This approach supports:

  • Grounding and nervous system regulation

  • Improved alignment and body awareness

  • Release of physical tension and stored emotion

  • Greater connection between breath and movement

  • Preparation for more deep inner work

Yoga becomes a way of arriving, creating space within the body and mind, and laying the foundation for the deeper processes that follow.
